Today, Libertines frontman Pete Doherty launched his new jewellery collection Albion Trinkerty. The jewellery line which includes cufflinks, rings, necklaces and watch chains is being sold online through joseph.co.uk. An recent article in the guardian slated the collection, although I'm pretty sure it has more to do with the disliking of Pete rather then his jewellery. I happen to really like the collection, it's edgy and current, although like my friend recently pointed out "who's actually gonna buy it?" True as he maybe, Pete has a lot of fans who will definitely snap it up, and he's pretty hightly regarded in the fashion world. I'm sure some of his celebrity chums will be seen wearing some pieces which will without a doubt help sell it. Shame he's not with Kate anymore.

Lanvin ready to land...

Okay, so everyone should already be aware of the collaboration between H&M and Lanvin. Those die hard Lanvin fans will also know the collection launches Tuesday morning at 9am (even earlier online at 7am). I always love the collaborations H&M have, it's a great chance for everyone to own a piece of designer clothing. My two favourie collaborations were Stella Mc Cartney and Karl Lagerfeld. Quite possibly my two favourite designers. Okay, getting sidetracked, back to Lanvin. Okay, so I do like the collection, but it's just a little too pretty and frilly for my taste (thats not to say I don't like it). I usually like to add a messy element to how I dress in the morning, either by forgetting to brush my hair or wearing scuffed shoes. Either when I'm no longer a student, I will still posess the look of one. Weather you like the Lanvin collection or no, it is a definate score for H&M's marketing department.
P.S Secret insider information, the X-factor judges will be wearing Lanvin for H&M tomorrow evening, and the contestants will be weaing H&M, so be sure to look out for that.In the meantime, enjoy these advertorials.....

I blame Coco

Okay,this is now my second post with regards to Coco Sumner. This time however I am rating her music rather then her style. I went to watch her band I blame Coco in Manchester last Tuesday, and it was a little piece of awesomeness. I have been wanting to watch the band for ages, but have always had something else going on. I almost didn't get to see the gig as I was queing up in Jamie's Italian in Liverpool waiting to munch away, however, I abandened Jamie for Coco haha, food can wait. Okaaay, so about the gig. I arrived just ontime to watch the band come onstage, Coco mumbled something about Manchester then went straight into the set. Her voice is simply divine, her singing voice is the same as her talking voice, which makes you stand to attention whenever she talks. The crowd at the gig went crazy for the band, and pretty much sung along to all their songs. The atmosphere was awesome, and while others were busy taking pics, I was busy eyeing up what Coco was wearing, and she didn't dissapoint. Okay, I should really stop here, before I sould like a coco obcessive and because I couldn't sucessfuly review music if I tried, and boy did I try.

Stuff I did this month

This month has been so crazy. I have come back from a three month trip from America, and headed straight back to university. As well as compleating assignments I also have the very mundane task of applying for Fashion Internships. The ones the university have been supplying have been vile, and based in the UK. As my internship is for one year, I would ideally like one which isn't in the UK.
It's pretty exhausting applying to random fashion companies for them to ignore your email, when you spend the best part of an hour tailoring an email.
Is anybody else applying for internships, or already had an internship?
Any advice as to where to look ect would be awesome:-)

Anyway, onto a brighter note, the fun stuff I did this month included seeing Kate Nash with my best friend Laura, seeing Frankie and the heartstrings at the deaf institute and watching the Mystery Jets in a cathedral (my favourite gig of the month sofar.
I'm begining to slowly like Manchester again I guess, there have been tons of art and music festivals, my favourite in particular was an art exhibition called shrink wrap. Basically, they ask member of the audience to climb into huge plasic pouches, they then seal up the pouches and suck out the air. Each member stays in the bag for 10 minutes. It was definitely one of my favourite things to do in last month.

RISE OF THE POP UP STORE

Last week I arrive in Birmingham for the arrival of a new pop up store, aptly named Pop store. No longer novice to the fashion scene, pop up stores are literally 'popping up everywhere' (pun intended). When I was in New York a couple of weeks ago, they seemed to be everywhere, my favourite happened to be Mary-kate and Ashley's 'The Row', located in Greenwich Village. Pop up stores are a way of making a clothing labels 'exclusive'. They scream out "come and buy me now, you never know when I'll be gone". And yes it's true, pop up stores just pop up and leave in an instant, mamking the consumer grab a fashion find before it's too late.
The pop store in Birmingham was definitely my favourite in Britain, mostly because the clothes and accessories they sold we're carefully selected, and merchandised. I pretty much wanted to buy everything in store, and they actually make shopping fun!!! They stock ultra cool labels such as 'Junk food' 'Fourholes', Defy/Mafia Jewellery'. They interior of the shop was amazing too, and stood out from other bland high street retailers. It was decorated like an bedroom I will eventually own, not to mention the Black van which doubled as a cash till.
The pop store is doing what many retailer SHOULD be doing, having fun, and making shopping bearable... Why can't all shopping experiences be this one, or maybe not, as we'd more then likely become bankrupt...

So it is exactly 30 days until I go away to New York for the summer. I'll be leaving the chilly air of England and setting sail for the bright lights of New York. I'm truely excited as I have never been before. The reason for me going out there...Camp America. Yes all hard work and no play apparently. My role is to teach the kids ceramics...eeek do I really know that much about ceramics, enough to teach it for a whole summer, I jolly hope so. After camp I have a month to travel America, the hard part...where to go, L.A is most definitely on my list, as is Las Vegas. Anybody know the best places to hit, or any hidden gems that I should scour? As a New York newbie, I will now be intensly researching the best and the worst of New York, and hoping to be truly inspired by the fashion and glamour, or is that just a myth perhaps....

How to make it in America

Anybody else addicted to this show yet? I've only just started watching this American TV show, but already I'm addicted. It's pretty fashiony, in the way that they constantly drop labels into any given conversation, but i'll forgive on this occasion. Other then the constant name dropping, this show is awsome. If you've not already started watching, get to it pronto.

She's sexy, smart and dam stylish. Ok, so what does she do...? She models for APC,used to date Jamie from the kills, is good friends with Alexa,and sings backing vocals for the big pink, whats not to love about this girl.

Charlotte and Sean

Having just come back from a quick trip to Paris, I picked up one of my favourite magazines Jalouse. Although I can't read a single word (although I am curretly taking French lessons) I instantly fell in love with both Charlotte Kemp and Sean Lennon. I was already slightly in love with Sean Lennon, purely based on his his album dead meat, if you havn't already listened to it, then I suggest you do right away, it's amazing!!
Anyway, back onto the photoshoot, both Charlotte and Sean look amazing,there such a beautiful couple.

Gainsbourg is God

Okay, so I maybe a little late posting this post, but I have only just heard charlotte's latest album 'IRM' produced by the god like genius that is Beck. The album is really, really beautiful, the kind of album you listen to on a hot summer day.
I've got a bit of a girl crush on Charlotte, I love the way she looks and dresses, but I especially love the film 'science of sleep'. it's the cutest film ever, and totally magical, so yeah to sum up this post.... I love Gainsbourg.

Last summer, after internet browsing at my new internship placement, I came across the fabulous designs by Built by Wendy. Their clothes are the kind of pieces which were designed for children in adult sizes. It's just so unfortunate that they are an American based company, and shipping to the UK cost so much. I have to admit I much prefer their spring/summer collection. Their cute preppy dresses remind me of Alexa Chung, which is never a bad thing.

Australia's Next Top Model

So basically, i've applied to do a term away in Australia, Melbourne to be exact. It's kind of like an exchange programme, and I was soooo eager for sunshine, that I filled the forms in pronto, without reseaching the university I maybe attending, and what Melbourne has to offer. In a hollywood kind of way, i'm thinking it will be all sun and fun (hopefully). If anybody has been or lives in Australia can they give me any information on it, as I'm totally clueless. Oh, and while we're on the subject, has anybody watched Australia Next Top Model? I got soooo into while on a trip to Amsterdam, I seriously did not want to leave my hotel. I watched a few episodes of the earlier series and it was totally rubbish, then I watched a recent(ish) episode with Alamela, Alex Demelza, and I was hoooooked. F.Y.I Alex was definately my favourite, I loved the way she dressed!!!

Hotel Chevalier

I recently watched Hotel Chevalier. It is a short 10 minute prequel to The Darjeeling Limited. It stars the amazing Natalie Portman and Jason Schwartzman. It's a film about heatbreak, and meeting up again with your one true love. There isn't much dialogue in the film, but it is shot really beautifully, with amazingly vivid colours. Natalie Portman looks amazing in it with her gamine crop, she also features on the front cover of the British version of Elle magazine, and she comes across really well in the interview. She is one of the rare few actresses who has it all, brains and beauty, and I loved her in the film Garden State.

I recently purchased this book from Urban Outfitters. It's a small, pocket sized book, with really cool quotes. I have to admit, I love these kind of books,the ones which contain little pearls of wisdom. Although this book isn't for everybody, those who do read it will love it. Once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down until I had finished it, one of my current favourite reads.
